Hot Air Balloon Rides In Seville
Hot Air Balloon Rides in the province of Seville take place in the Northern Donana Park (Norte del Parque de Donana),
one of the largest remaining wetlands in Europe and of international importance for breeding, staging and
wintering birds.
The Park borders the Guadalquivir River which is the third longest river in Spain (after the Tagus
and Ebro), and the longest in Andalusia at 657 kilomaters long. Currently it is navigable up as far
as Seville, but in Roman times it was navigable to Córdoba. The ancient city of Tartessos was said
to be have been located at the mouth of the Guadalquivir, although its site has not yet been found.
On the banks of the river lies Seville. According to legend, the city was founded by Hercules and
its origins are linked with the Tartessian civilisation. It is one of the largest historical centres
in Europe, it has the beautiful minaret of La Giralda, the Gothic cathedral (one of the largest in
Christendom), the Alcazar Palace and the Triana bridge.
This is an area with many plains which are perfect for ballooning with far reaching views all the
way to the mountaintops of Atlas in Africa.
