Hot Air Balloon Rides In Alava
Located in the middle of the historical territory and formed by 11 municipalities, Alava Plain has been always a passing route for pilgrims and traders. Surrounded by ranges and mountains, you will see that its relief is very flat, creating a space of wide and beautiful landscapes, through which the river Zadorra runs.
Flying over the North of the plain presents the appealing landscape of Elgea and Urkilla ranges, plus Garayo Park. To the west you'll find the Badaia range and, in the South, Iturreta and Gasteiz mountains.
Additionally you will discover that the plain is home to a rich cultural heritage as you soar above one of the best models of Basque Romanesque: the Sanctuary of Estibaliz, which is in the center of the region, on the outskirts of Vitoria-Gasteiz. In the area around the capital of Alava, gaze down upon lordly houses and medieval-character villages such as Mendoza and Martioda towers.
Salvatierra constitutes the heart of the eastern plain. Enjoy your birds eye view of the beautiful palaces, San Juan Bautista square and the homonym parish church. Keep a look out for the Aizkormendi dolmens in Eguilaz/Egilatz and Sorginetxe in Arizala, two megalithic monuments.
